Pastor Scholarships

That Side Ministries is committed to equipping pastors with theological training to strengthen their local churches and communities. Through our Pastor Scholarships, we have supported pastors in their studies at institutions such as Christ Seminary and Baptist Theological College. Our work has extended to areas like Pretoria, Cosmo City, and the Northwest Province of South Africa, ensuring that pastors receive the education they need while continuing to serve their congregations. This scholarship is designed for dedicated pastors who seek to deepen their theological understanding while remaining committed to their churches. Applicants must meet specific criteria, including continued pastoral service during and after their training, accountability partnerships, and a demonstrated calling to ministry.

Criteria for Support – I Am a Pastor

  • The man would remain the pastor of the local church during the seminary training.

  • Following his seminary training he would agree to serve his existing church for the
number of years of his sponsored training.

  • If he wishes to leave his existing church, before he has fulfilled the commitment, he will
reimburse That Side Ministries for every year he did not fulfill.

  • The man will be partnered with another pastor for accountability and encouragement for
    the duration of his commitment.

  • A letter of recommendation from another pastor, an elder or active member of the local
    church.

  • A letter that contains the following information about the man:

    • His conversion story. How he came to know Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.

    • His current family situation. Is he married? Does he have children?

    • His current situation in his local church. When did he start serving at the church?

    • His experience in the local church. How long has he served as pastor?

    • Why he feels the need to obtain a degree.

Non-Pastor Scholarships

That Side Ministries is dedicated to raising up future pastors and teachers by providing scholarships for those who feel called to ministry but are not yet serving in a pastoral role. Our program supports men who are active members of a local church and desire formal theological training to prepare them for ministry. Scholarship recipients will serve as assistants to a local pastor throughout their education, gaining valuable hands-on experience. Upon completing their seminary training at institutions like Christ Seminary and Baptist Theological College, they will commit to serving in a pre-approved church for a period equal to their sponsored training. This opportunity is designed for those who are eager to grow in their faith, deepen their biblical knowledge, and pursue God’s calling to shepherd His people.
